I don't know about you but I really want a pair of bell bottoms. Do you have any pairs that you already love? I think when I find the perfect pair I'm going to invest; maybe something from Free People? I took a few fashion courses during my time in college and love researching fashion trends. Here is a history lesson on bell bottoms for my readers.

Origin of Bell-Bottoms

The pants that the world has come to know and love as a fitted yet flowing fashion staple amongst young people originally were designed for much more practical reasons. Though the actual creation of the first pair of bell-bottoms is unknown, the first mention of bell-bottom pants was in 1813 in reference to the uniforms of U.S. Navy sailors. Bell-bottoms were a functional choice for sailors since they were easy to remove over boots, easy to roll up to avoid becoming water-logged, and--perhaps most interestingly--could be morphed into a floatation device by filling the pant legs with air.

I guess now we know why sailors may have some of the most iconic outfits but they also helped them survive if they were wrecked at sea! Heck yes floatation device, I think airplanes need to get a pair of these underneath seats :) Anywho...here are a few of my favorite ways to wear them. I will post some pictures of myself in them as soon as I find that PERFECT pair. I wanted to point out too that bell bottoms work well for most women's bodies because they draw attention from their waist downward.

Baldwin Party

Hi readers,

A few weeks ago I had an amazing time at a party that Baldwin Denim threw at Town Center Crossing on March 28th to celebrate Matt Baldwin being named of one GQ's best new menswear designers. As one of the winners, Baldwin gets to design an exclusive 12-piece collection to be sold, starting in October, at Gap stores around the globe. My friend Sam is great about informing me about fashion events around town because she is a fashion lover like me. I bought my first Marc Jacobs cell phone case which has a credit card holder. How brilliant is that? Enjoy the photos. I plan to go to more shows soon and I have to buy a couple Baldwin baseball caps soon!

Ps-highlight for the night was meeting my favorite soccer player for Sporting KC Aurelien Collin.

Baldwin=Badass Denim

Hi readers,

Let's go ahead and agree that KC company Baldwin is a badass. GQ has had their eye on them for quite a few years now and Matt Baldwin is showing how quality denim is worth the investment. GQ voted them as one of the Best New Menswear Designers in America. Some notable and famous Kansas Citians like Jason Sudeikis have been sporting his KC Baldwin hat around with his equally as famous girlfriend Olivia Wilde. I am not afraid to admit either that Baldwin's jeans are equal eye candy as their founder Matt Baldwin. 

Baldwin winning the award from GQ means this fall, style-conscious shoppers can buy both a KC hat and a KC T-shirt in Thailand, Tokyo and more than 200 other cities around the world. I joke to my husband that he will finally be able to afford a couple pair of their jeans! I know they are going to sell out like crazy so everyone better head to their local GAP store ASAP when the collection is out. I plan to buy a lot of stuff to support Baldwin but just to have high quality clothing. I will keep you posted on my blog when they start the collection and let you know what items I snatched up. I already own the limited edition Baldwin bag that came out last year and I'm excited to use it this summer.
